The current political situation here in the United States is untenable, we are a a Democratic Republic.
Lets explore that term: Democratic Republic. A Democratic Republic is a system of government where the citizens elect individuals to represent their interest on a local, state and national level. Now, that explanation is critical, because it means that the representatives who are elected are to represent the people who elected them, within the constraints of the Law.
That is not happening right now. Right now, and for the last several decades(and longer), the elected representatives have been cooperating, not with those who voted them into office, but with those who contributed to their campaigns the most money. So, if I run a multi-billion dollar company, and I donate a million dollars to a candidate running for congress, and he win, the current situation says that I can ask him for a favor, or even dictate to him, what he is to represent in congress. That is, by its very definition, contrary to the purpose of a Democratic Republic.
I believe that a politician who does as such is not fit to be in their position. Members of the HRP are expected to rebuff such favors and dictates, and focus on the needs of the people they represent.
The danger is a substantial one: a Corporation isn't a voting district, nor is it an elected representative of a populace. A corporation is a Business that has one goal: make money. A Corporation cannot be considered an acceptable influence for government, in fact, it is the one thing that cannot be allowed to even have a Vote in government, and yet is given the greatest credence.
This current path of policy making can lead to only one thing: making the corporations more money. That is the Only end the corporations care about, and ultimately, under this current path, that is the only thing that will be happening: corporations will be making money. We might as well elect a ruling Corporation, rather than a President and Senate.
